    PRODUCT:

TrueSight Synthetic Transaction Monitor with Micro Focus Silk Performer

    COMPONENT:

    BMC Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter

    APPLIES TO:

BMC Synthetic Transaction Execution Adapter (Synthetic TEA Agent)

    QUESTION:

Receiving the following error message in the Synthetic TEA Agent within the TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) console and in the transaction_result.txt within the TrueLog file:

ERRID -1 : Transaction TMain of [EPID=xxx] reached timeout.

where EPID=xxx is the Execution Plan ID.

Also the Synthetic application in the TSPS console shows an error on the Execution Error for the Execution Plan.  See screen shot below:

    ANSWER:

After reviewing the above screen shot, it shows that the script had eight Accuracy Errors, which were under 2 minutes, and then after that it had an Execution Error that ran in 2 minutes.  This Execution Error means that the script timed out.

In the transaction_result.txt within the TrueLog, it had the following message:

ERRID -1 : Transaction TMain of [EPID=xxx] reached timeout.

which confirms that the script timed out.

To determine the reason why the script timed out can be found in the localhost@<Script_Name_Here>.log file within the TrueLog from the Synthetic TEA Agent, but it could be difficult to read.  If the localhost@<Script_Name_Here>.log file has 0 bytes then it means there were no information generated in this file when it timed out.

If the value for the Timeout Period field within the Execution Plan is set to low then when the script reaches that timeout period, it will terminate the perfrun, an Execution Error will generate, and the localhost@<Script_Name_Here>.log file within the TrueLog will not contain any information.  It is possible that the script requires additional time to run so if the Timeout Period value is set to low then the script will not complete its execution.

Edit the Execution Plan within the TSPS console, and increase the value for the Timeout Period field, and then see if the script still timeout.

If script still receives an Execution Error (times out) then send a new set of TrueLog for this script to BMC Support.

BMC will review it to see if there are any information in the localhost@<Script_Name_Here>.log file.  If there are still no information then upgrade to the TSOM 11.3.02 Fix Pack so that if this script times out then it will be forced to generate some information into the localhost@<Script_Name_Here>.log file.

Note : Make sure to have Full SilkPerformer on the same machine where the TEA agent is.
