    QUESTION:

What are the steps to upgrade embedded version of TrueSight RSSO (TSCO) using RSSO single platform installer?

    ANSWER:

     1.   If you want to upgrade RSSO you should consider any version as of 19.x (single platform installer).
This version includes updated Jackson Data bind Jar files, the older versions have reported vulnerable.

    2.    Before running the update change the rsso-properties.conf file and set db.prepackage.type = false.
            https://docs.bmc.com/docs/rsso1902/known-and-corrected-issues-836453590.html

If you are not doing this, the installation breaks  because the file system is updated but not the database
With this change above the stop is not stopping the database and the db can be updated by the installer.

Important: This 2nd step applies only if your database is postgress. Disregard if Oracle, MSSQLServer, etc..

    3.    We recommend to run the installer as root meanwhile,  and keep the service running, the installer is trying to create and update files in /etc.
Which have been not used or created  by the old RSS version, if you don’t run it as root. It generally works but may show old product versions when running commands from command line.

    4.    Steps to run the installer.
