    APPLIES TO:

App Visibility Portal App Visibility Collector 10.7, 11.0, 11.3.01

    QUESTION:

What type of database is used by the App Visibility Portal and App Visibility Collector?

    ANSWER:

The App Visibility Portal and App Visibility Collector use the PostgreSQL database.  During the installation of the App Visibility Portal and App Visibility Collector, the PostgreSQL database is automatically installed on the same server where the App Visibility Portal and App Visibility Collector is installed.

For example, if the App Visibility Portal and App Visibility Collector are installed on the same server then only one copy of the PostgreSQL database is installed.  However, if the App Visibility Portal is installed on one server, and the App Visibility Collector is installed on another server then the PostgreSQL database will be installed on both servers.
The Database is maintained by the product code.

BMC maintains the PostgreSQL database inside the TrueSight App Visibility Manager server. Hence, does not share code or product implementation with customers. Customer's only action is backups.
