    QUESTION:

    How to limit user authorization using master profiles?
     


    ANSWER:

    APPTUNE for Db2 allows administrators to create master profiles so that different type of users can have different authorization. In addition, with master profiles, administrators do not need to specify similar authorization to each and every different APPTUNE users.
    These are the steps required to apply master profile to users:

       
    1. On the ‘SQL Performance for Db2’ main menu, select option 9 for Administration. Press Enter.

    3. Select option 1 to modify user profiles. Press Enter.
    4.  
    5. On the ‘User Profile Administration’ menu, type ‘M’ to modify the user that you want. Press Enter.

    7. On the ‘User Profile Data’ menu, type ‘1’ to alter session control parameters. Press Enter.

    9. On the ‘User Profile Session Control’ menu, change ‘Use Master Profile Access Lists’ from N to Y. If you want to deny the user to update the profile values, type ‘YES’ to the next field in order to lock the profile.

    11. On the same menu, supply the ‘Master Profile’ field with the profile name that you want user to be in.

    13. Press PF3 to go back to ‘User Profile Data’ menu.
    14.  
    15. Press PF3 to confirm changes in ‘User Profile Change Confirmation’ menu. Type ‘1’ to save changes.
