App Visibility - How to move the App Visibility Portal from one TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) to another TSPS?

    QUESTION:

    There will be a situation when an existing App Visibility Portal needs to be relocated to another TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS).  So how does one move the App Visibility Portal from one TSPS console to another TSPS console?


    ANSWER:

     

    If the existing App Visibility Portal is running version 11.0.00 or earlier and it is already connected to an existing TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) console, then this move will cause an issue if there are Synthetic TEA Agents involved.  See Defect ID DRTSO-43758 in the following link for more information:

    If there no Synthetic TEA Agents involved, and only App Visibility Agent for Java and/or App Visibility Agent for .NET are in the environment then first, make a backup of the current TSPS and App Visibility Portal components.  Second, install a new TSPS (same version as the App Visibility Portal) and move the existing App Visibility Portal to the new TSPS.

    Note: In this option automatic applications from the Java Agents and .NET Agents will be re-discovered, but there will not be historical data available in the TSPS console.

    If there are Synthetic TEA Agents involved, then below are two options available:

    Option 1
    Leave the App Visibility Portal version 11.0.00 or earlier connected to the current TSPS console, and continue using the current version

    Option 2
    Upgrade the TSPS, App Visibility Portal, App Visibility Collector(s), and App Visibility Proxy (if present) to version 11.3.01 or later.  Below are the steps:

    Step 1) Backup the App Visibility database by following the below documentation :

    Step 2) Upgrade the current App Visibility Portal, App Visibility Collector(s), App Visibility Proxy (if present), and TSPS to version 11.3.01

    Step 3) Upgrade the same TrueSight components in Step 2 above to version 11.3.02

    Note: Ensure TSPS, App Visibility Portal, App Visibility Collector(s), and App Visibility Proxy (if present) are on the same versions before proceeding to Step 4 below.

    Step 4) Install a new TSPS version 11.3.01 and then upgrade it to version 11.3.02

    Step 5) Disconnect the App Visibility Portal 11.3.02 from the old TSPS console

    Step 6) Add the App Visibility Portal 11.3.02 to the new TSPS 11.3.02 console

    Step 7) All Applications will be recreated in the new TSPS in "inactive" state - please make sure to activate them (manually)
