App Visibility - Can an App Visibility Portal 11.3.xx be moved from one tenant to another tenant within the same TrueSight Presentation Server 11.3.x?

    QUESTION:

    For example, an App Visibility Portal 11.3.xx is connected to a tenant (for example, the default (*) tenant) within the TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) 11.3.x console, but later this App Visibility Portal needs to be connected to another tenant within the TSPS console.

    So how can an App Visibility Portal 11.3.xx be moved from one tenant to another tenant within the same TrueSight Presentation Server 11.3.xx?


    ANSWER:

     

    The App Visibility Portal cannot be moved from one tenant to another tenant within the same TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS).  See the following link for more information:

    Expand the “To add an App Visibility portal to the Presentation Server and (optionally) a TrueSight Infrastructure Management cell” section, and there is a statement in the Notes section.

    If the App Visibility Portal was moved from the default (*) tenant to another tenant (for example, abc123) in the TSPS console then the following message will appear in the Components screen:
     
    Registration Error - Cannot add App Visibility portal to another tenant on this Presentation Server. The portal was registered with the (*) tenant.
     
    Also the portal.log file on the App Visibility Portal server will contain the following error message:
     
    [ERROR] - Failed to connect to TSPS with tenant [abc123] because was previously connected with tenant [*] to same TSPS [TSPS_hostname_here].

    However, the App Visibility Portal can be moved from one tenant on a TSPS to another tenant that is on another TSPS.  This is because there is an Application ID and same tenant ID are not being updated.  Below are the steps to perform this task:

    Step 1) Backup the App Visibility 11.3.xx database by following the below documentation :

    Step 2)Install the new TSPS 11.3.xx server

    Note: Ensure TSPS and App Visibility Portal are on the same version before proceeding to Step 3 below.

    Step 3)Disconnect the App Visibility POrtal 11.3.xx from old TSPS and connect it to the new TSPS 11.3.xx

    Step 4)All Application will be recreated in the new TSPS in "inactive" state.  Please make sure to activate them (manually).
