    QUESTION:

How to feed SMF 110(2), statistics, to reporting tool expecting SMF 110 records when using MainView for CICS function to generate SMF records?

    ANSWER:

When using CMRSOPT to control the writing of SMF 110, MainView for CICS will request CICS to write SMF records.
The records will be of the REQ type (as opposed to type EOD or type INT).

MainView produce enhanced records which are also written to SMF 110; with a subtype of 0B02.
An extraction done using type SMF 110 as the sole criteria will require another step to remove those 0B02 records when the reporting program expect type 0002 per se.

BBSAMP member CMRSTATX can be used as a template to extract, filter and use the CICS report program.
It has ample comments to be used as an example of

    • a step to extract from SMF (IFASMFDP)
    •
    • a step to select only type 0002 (DFHJUP)
    •
    • a step to produce reports(DFHSTUP)
    Note:
MainView for CICS supply different mechanisms to exploit its enhanced records.
MainView for CICS's PRL report tool can be used.
SAS can be used, sample code is provided in BBSAMP to allow reading these records (members in the form SASINXnn).
Lastly DSECT can be generated using a macro found in BBSAMP(STATREC).
