EUEM - Cloud Probe service terminates and receiving "EPX ERR: libPCAP can't activate intf. Err: [Error opening adapter: The system cannot find the device specified." message in the exp.log file

    PROBLEM:

     

    The Cloud Probe service stops immediately on a Windows operating system, and the following error message appears in the exp.log file:

    2016/08/03-12:21:30 [CORE]:INFO: Main state initial value: [ST_INITIALIZATION]
    2016/08/03-12:21:30 [CORE]:INFO: SSL Keys and/or Hosts accept: GOOD
    2016/08/03-12:21:33 [CORE]:EPX ERR: libPCAP can't activate intf. Err: [Error opening adapter: The system cannot find the device specified. (20)]

     


    CAUSE:

    Missing libpcap, WinPcap is a packet capture driver that is necessary for correct functioning of Cloud Probe under Windows.


    SOLUTION:

     

    Below are the steps to resolve this issue:

    Step 1) Run getmac /v command in the Windows server

    Step 2) Compare the returned devices with the value assigned to below line in the epx_properties.conf

    SYSTEM.PROPERTIES.EPX.global.capture_interface= XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

    Step 3) Verify that WinPcap is installed.
