    QUESTION:

The Oracle DBA analyzed the performance of the database and recommended using SECUREFILE LOBs in Remedy to improve database performance. Are there any known issues using SECUREFILE Lobs with ARServer?

    ANSWER:

Generally speaking, the BMC Performance team recommends against SecureFile LOBs, however, if your DbA has analyzed the situation and feels it is something that is needed to be done in your environment, and as long as the change isn't affecting Remedy AR's behavior or functionality, then BMC won't say 'No', but the change will be at your own risk.
BMC does not do any testing with SecureFile LOBs, and BMC Support does not provide support for it.

In other words, the use of SecureFile LOBs should be transparent to the BMC product(s) and neither Support nor Engineering are aware of any negative effects of its use at this time.  SecureFile LOBs have not been certified by BMC so our general recommendation would be to, at your own risk, test this to see if your environment has any specific effect from SECUREFILE.
