NULL value is not getting replaced according to "If field value is NULL" step in Custom spoon job

    PROBLEM:

    Customer was loading data into various foundation tables (i.e. Organization, People) using custom transformation. The source of the data is via a table input & for null values in any column "If field value is NULL" step was used but still sometimes it was throwing below errors :

    ERROR (307): Required field can not be blank.; 
     


    CAUSE:

    It seems defect on Spoon side.


    SOLUTION:

    - This issue was already discussed by many users on Pentaho communities : 
      https://forums.pentaho.com/threads/79620-How-can-I-replace-null-with-empty-string/ 
    - Most of the issues got resolved by adding below keyword in kettle.properties file :
      KETTLE_EMPTY_STRING_DIFFERS_FROM_NULL=Y
