    QUESTION:

    What is the correct MAXM Database Advisor started task startup and termination procedures?


    ANSWER:

    Correct command sequence for starting the MAXM Database Advisor for IMS address spaces.

    If the MXAD, MXADADV, and MXADUIM address spaces are not running then:
    1.  Issue the command /S MXAD.  This will start the BCSS/CPC address space which in turn will start the Advisor (MXADADV) address space.
    2.  Open the CPCLOG in the Advisor (MXADADV) address space and wait for the following message:
          BMC251853I BMCP subsystem - ADV server initialization completed without error

    3.  Issue the command /S MXADUIM
    4.  Look for the following message in the MXADUIM address space.
         BMC340122I Ready for MVS Operator Commands 

    Once the above message is issued the MAXM Database Advisor console is ready to use.

    Correct command sequence for terminating the MAXM Database Advisor for IMS address spaces.  

    1.  Issue the command /MXAD SHUTDOWN 
         This command causes the BCSS/CPC subsystem to stop the MAXM Database Advisor address spaces that are running under this subsystem.
    OR
    2.  Issue the commands /P MXADADV first and then /P MXADUIM
