Remedy - ITSM - Time is displayed in lowercase am/pm

    Midtier using Tomcat / JSP Engine with JDK 11



    PROBLEM:

    Time is displayed in lowercase in Table fields.

    ex. 30/08/2019 12:00:00 am instead of 30/08/2019 12:00:00 AM.

    This happens in most of the forms like worklog, audit and ITSM applications.


    SOLUTION:

    Certain locales like: en_GB, en_AU will display the date/time values in Table fields with the "am/pm" notation, in lowercase and not upper case. This happens when using JDK 11; it was a change in the JDK after version 8.

    In case you need to retain the upper case "AM/PM" notation when using JDK 11, you can set the following Java Option in your Tomcat / JSP engine:
    -Djava.locale.providers=COMPAT,CLDR

    And then, restart your Tomcat / JSP engine.
