    QUESTION:

When Customer is running an SMP/E APPLY job to apply a few PTFs, why does the Customer get an error like this:  GIM35904I (page#) PREREQUISITE SYSMOD BD1710R WAS MISSING.?

    ANSWER:

Check the job for the appropriate or intended SYSMODS to be applied, and ensure it is using the intended input data set or the intended APPLY CHECK or APPLY job.

Reference MainView Installation System documentation for steps when applying PTFs obtained from eFix.

Note, the below example information may be found in the output of any SMP/E Apply or Accept Maintenance job:

            BD1501B  SUPD      PTF                SUPBY    BD1704R
        BD1502B  SUPD      PTF                SUPBY    BD1707R   BD1710R
        BD1604R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1502B
        BD1607R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1604R
        BD1610R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1607R
        BD1701R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1610R
        BD1704R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1701R
        BD1707R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1704R
        BD1710R  APPLIED   PTF       ZBBA220  PRE      BD1707R

The last SYSMOD indicates the current maintenance level; i.e. SYSMOD BD1710R in the above example means RSL1710.  BDyymmR is not a PTF name; though it may look like one.
