    QUESTION:

During an upgrade or maintenance install, the LGC registry is not normally replaced.  I want to rename the original to reflect the new level like all my other datasets.

    ANSWER:

Here are the steps to rename the LGC registry name.

      1.  Backup the LGC registry -- job in BMCSAMP called LGC$BKUP

      2.  Run LGCLIST job below, this is just to know the group names to put into the jobs, these will not change.

      3.  Stop all DBC's that use this LGC registry

      4.  Rename the LGC registry to the new name, I use the rename command for this.

      5.  Run the LGCREG job attached with the new dataset name.  Make sure that the group name does not change.  NOTE:  you need replace some things in the XML

      6.  Start the DBC

Success will be that the DBC finds the new LGC registry name.

      Fallback is reverse the process.

Just in case plan is we have a backup and can always restore it.

NOTE:  rename, do not repro this dataset, it may not work.  If you need to use a new one and keep the old for a bit, we can do that with a reload from the backup, but repro may not work on this dataset.  It is easier if possible to just rename.
