    PRODUCT:

    Control-M JCL Verify

    COMPONENT:

    Control-M JCL Verify

    APPLIES TO:

BMC Control-M Workload Automation JCL Verify

    PROBLEM:

JVER does not check an IDCAMS utility SYSIN when the SYSIN is NOT instream.

    Sample Online messages:

    .BAAE //SYSIN DD DISP=SHR,DSN=RDCBTA.IOA.CNTL(SG2IN)
    =NOTE= INFORMATION: Verifying utility IDCAMS
==MSG> ERROR: Data set cannot be accessed by RDCBTA - Utility IDCAMS
    ==MSG> cannot be validated
=NOTE= INFORMATION: Verifying utility IDCAMS ended RC=0008

    Smaple batch messages:

    7 //SYSIN DD DISP=SHR,DSN=RDCBTA.IOA.CNTL(SG2IN)
    CTJUV0I INFORMATION: Verifying utility IDCAMS
CTJUVGE 7 ERROR: Data set cannot be accessed by RDCBTA - Utility IDCAMS cannot be validated
CTJUV1I INFORMATION: Verifying utility IDCAMS ended RC=0008

    SOLUTION:

In the online report we can find:

====== IOA security is disabled. Access validation is disabled.

    and in batch report:
CTJSA0S IOA security is disabled. Access validation is disabled.

    IOA Security is disabled.

Under these circumstances  JCL VERIFY cannot check if the userid requesting the verification is authorized to access the file mentioned in the SYSIN
If JCL VERIFY cannot check file access security then access to files is disabled.

Else, it would be a security breach. Specifying any file as a SYSIN will lead JCL VERIFY to list its content what ever it is.

To allow access to SYSIN dataset enable IOA security.
