PATROL for Application Management
PATROL for Application Management (AM KM) - all versions
The AM KM failed to connect to the App Visibility Portal server because of the following error message in the JDCollector.log file:
[port = 8100], [protocol = HTTPS], [host = <host name>], java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out
To resolve this issue, perform the following items:
Item 1) Confirm App Visibility Portal port number (default is 8100) is available
Item 2) If there is a firewall between the PATROL Agent/AM KM server and App Visibility Portal server then confirm the necessary port is opened
Item 3) From the server with the PATROL Agent and AM KM, confirm it can ping the App Visibility Portal server using its hostname and FQDN
Item 4) From the server with the PATROL Agent and AM KM, confirm it can telnet to the App Visibility Portal server using its hostname and FQDN with the App Visibility Portal port number (default is 8100)
If telnet failed then go to the target server and perform a netstat command to see if that port number is LISTENING and ESTABLISHED.
- If it is not LISTENING then the port is not available on that server
- If it is LISTENING, but not ESTABLISHED then the port is available, but no application/process is running and connected to it, which is why the telnet command failed. Ensure the application/process (e.g. a BMC product/component) is attached to it and then the telnet command should be successful.
If the telnet is successful then it does not always indicate that the port number is being used by the BMC product/component (for example, App Visibility Portal on port 8100). To confirm which application/process is using that port number, go to the target server and perform a netstat command to see if that port number is ESTABLISHED to the appropriate application/process (for example, App Visibility Portal process on port 8100).
