AM KM cannot connect to the App Visibility Portal due to a “java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out” message in the JDCollector.log file

    PROBLEM:

     

    The PATROL for Application Management (AM KM) failed to connect to the App Visibility Portal server because of the following error message in the JDCollector.log file:

    [port = 8100], [protocol = HTTPS], [host = <host name>], java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out

     


    SOLUTION:

     

    To resolve this issue, perform the following items:

    Item 1) Confirm App Visibility Portal port number (default is 8100) is available

    Item 2) If there is a firewall between the PATROL Agent/AM KM server and App Visibility Portal server then confirm the necessary port is opened

    Item 3) From the server with the PATROL Agent and AM KM, confirm it can ping the App Visibility Portal server using its hostname and FQDN

    Item 4) From the server with the PATROL Agent and AM KM, confirm it can telnet to the App Visibility Portal server using its hostname and FQDN with the App Visibility Portal port number (default is 8100)
