    PRODUCT:

    BladeLogic Server Automation Suite

    COMPONENT:

    TrueSight BladeLogic Application Server

    APPLIES TO:

    TSSA/BSA version 8.9.04

    PROBLEM:

On a Windows system, the UPI fails to upgrade the RSCD agent on the file server if the Microsift Visual C++ 2017 Redistributable or later is installed.

In the UPI gui you see:

    User-added image

In the "bsainstallupgrade.log", we can see following error messages during failure:

RSCD agent upgrade failed on bmc.test.com because Microsift Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable installation failed on this server,  ErrorCode: 102. Refer to the log file located at C:\Windows\Temp\dd_vcredist_*.log on the server where this failed.  Potential reason and step for remediation:(1) One of the possible cause of this can be missing dependent KBs to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable.  Please install the dependent KBs and try again. Before re-attempting, ensure RSCD agent service is up and running on all the servers that are associated in the upgrade.

    CAUSE:

    Defect DRBLG-117874

    SOLUTION:

This issue has been identified as a defect DRBLG-117874 and a fix is targeted in a future release of TSSA.

If you encounter this problem during an upgrade:
Upgrade the file server RSCD to 8.9.04 using MSI installer
Start the appserver, re-run the UPI to upgrade the environment, UPI should skip the RSCD agent upgrade on the file-server and upgrade the appservers.
