    PROBLEM:

    When a Qualys scan was was being imported to BMC BladeLogic Thread Director, it failed with the following error:
     

    Error: Import could not be completed. The file you selected has an incorrect format and cannot be imported. Please use a valid scan file report.
      


      

     


    CAUSE:

    The xml from Qualys need to be created from scan result not from assets.


    SOLUTION:

    Check the scan XML file which is being importanted and look for the DOCTYPE at the top. It should be of type "SCAN SYSTEM" as shown here and not ASSET_DATA_REPORT SYSTEM or anything else:
     

      

     

    If the DOCTYPE is not SCAN SYSTEM, the Security team who provided the file should be contacted and requested to provide a file of the correct type. This is done by going to Scans, within Qualys, selecting a scan and downloading the result.
