Records in AST:Attributes form are not being created in 9.1.03 Asset Management

    Asset Management version 9.1.03 exclusively. Versions 9.1.04 and later have this fixed.



    PROBLEM:

    In the API/SQL/FILTER log file, the following error was seen:

    Corresponding records existed in the CMDB forms:

       
    • BMC.CORE:BaseElement
    •  
    • BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem – BMC.ASSET.SANDBOX dataset
    •  
    • BMC.CORE:BMC_ComputerSystem – BMC.ASSET dataset
    Corresponding records existed in the Asset forms:  
       
    • AST:BaseElement
    •  
    • AST:ComputerSystem
    However record does NOT exist in:  
       
    • AST:Attributes
      
    Due to this, when updating the record's Status field from AST:ComputerSystem, no changes are seen. 

     


    SOLUTION:

    Solution:
    Root cause was due to the Submitter field on the AST:Attributes form was missing a default value of $USER$, which seems to be a defect in v9.1.03.  It should be there OOTB.

    1) Login to Developer Studio > Base Mode
    2) Open AST:Attributes form
    3) Select Submitter field
    4) Add the Default Value $USER$
    5)  Flush the Midtier and browser cache
