How to Create a Validation Rule in Remedyforce to Require the User to Select an Account
Creating a Validation Rule to Require an Account be Selected when Creating and Incident:
1. Go to Setup | Click Create | Objects
2. Select Incident | Click Validation Rules | Click New
3. Create a validation rule with the following conditions:
$User.BMCServiceDesk__IsStaffUser__c = TRUE &&
NOT(ISPICKVAL(BMCServiceDesk__contactType__c, "Mail Listen") ||
ISPICKVAL(BMCServiceDesk__contactType__c, "Self Service"))
NOTE: The above rule is more complex than the rule in the video. The rule in the video is the basics of how to create a validation rule. The above rule forces only Remedyforce Staff to select an account, but does not require an account for Incidents created from Self Service or via Mail Listen.
