    PRODUCT:

    TrueSight Infrastructure Management

    COMPONENT:

    TSIM Installation

    APPLIES TO:

    TrueSight Infrastructure Management 11.x

    QUESTION:

    Note that you might also see references in the TrueSightINIT_MONITORS_*.log (and/or pronet_db.log, TrueSight.log) as follows:
    ORA-12505, TNS:listener does not currently know of SID given in connect descriptor

    The last line of
    tsim_server_install_log.txt seems to be hung here:
    LOG EVENT {Description=[ <SERVER_INSTALL> Executing Command:  /opt/bmc/TrueSight/pw/scripts/ConfigureAndPopulateDB.sh /opt/bmc/TrueSight 1 oracle 2638],Detail=[]}

    ANSWER:

    If the DB is Oracle 12c and non-RAC, use USE_SID_AS_SERVICE<listener_name>=on in the ORACLE_HOME/network/admin/listener.ora file as shown here:
    https://docs.bmc.com/docs/TSOperations/113/prerequisites-for-infrastructure-management-upgrade-765459827.html

    Note that this entry is needed on non RAC. RAC systems don't need that entry.

    Another option is to trick the installer into thinking that the DB is RAC.
    If you're on a previous TrueSight version which is connected to the non-RAC DB, edit pronet.conf.
    These are those properties which need to be added/replaced:
    pronet.api.database.oracle.rac.enabled=true
    pronet.api.database.oracle.rac.count=1
    pronet.api.database.oracle.rac.port.1=1521
    pronet.api.database.oracle.rac.host.1=<database-hostname>

    The "sid" property will remain a it is

    Restart the TSIM for the changes to take effect ('pw sys start'). Then perform the upgrade to 11.3.01.

    RFE DRTMD-2 has been created to do away with the USE_SID_AS_SERVICE<listener_name>=on requirement for non-RAC Oracle systems.
