    QUESTION:

    Does BMC Discovery pickup & discover Hardware End of Life (EOL) and End of Support (EOS) details? 


    ANSWER:

    Starting as of the January 2018 Extended Data Pack (EDP), we have included Hardware EOL & EOS details for certain types and makes of hardware.

    The list of hardware for which we will be picking up & discovering the EOL & EOS details will grow over time. You can check the monthly EDP documentation within the link below to see which Hardware now supports discovery of the EOL and EOS details:

    NOTE

    1.) EOL & EOS details are discovered for the following node types:

       
    • Network Device
    •  
    • Storage Device
    •  
    • Hosts
    •  
    • Host Containers
    2.) In BMC Discovery Version   11.3.x, these details are presented on the node's view page within the Discovery UI as follows:

    3.) In BMC Discovery Version   11.2.x, these details are not presented in the Discovery UI, however this information can be extracted using a query such as the following:  

    search Host show name, os, vendor, virtual, partition, #InferredElement:Inference:Associate:DiscoveryAccess.endpoint as 'Scanned via', #ElementWithDetail:SupportDetail:HardwareDetail:SupportDetail.end_ext_support_date as 'End of Extended Support (EOES) Date', #ElementWithDetail:SupportDetail:HardwareDetail:SupportDetail.end_support_date as 'End of Support (EOS) Date', #ElementWithDetail:SupportDetail:HardwareDetail:SupportDetail.product as 'Product', #ElementWithDetail:SupportDetail:HardwareDetail:SupportDetail.retirement_date as 'Retirement (EOL) Date'

    NOTE: The EOL & EOS details are not available for Hardware in Version 11.1.x and earlier, even if you have the Jan 2018 EDP (or later) installed.
