    PRODUCT:

    Control-M Managed File Transfer

    COMPONENT:

    Control-M MFT

    APPLIES TO:

Control-M for Managed File Transfer 9.0.00 on Linux/Unix

    PROBLEM:

Control-M for Managed File Transfer deployment to Linux/Unix Control-M/Agent running in root user mode fails with "DRAFT.9.0.00_Linux-x86_64.tar.Z_root/setup.sh: Permission denied" in the deployment log.

    CAUSE:

CAR00156617 - Deployment failed when agent running as root and no executing privileges set to the agent account.

    SOLUTION:

This problem occurs when the root user running the Control-M/Agent has a umask setting that changes the default permissions of files and directories created by that user, causing the Control-M/Agent account to not have read and/or execute permissions for the Control-M for Managed File Transfer installation files.

Until CAR00156617 is released in a future version, this problem can be resolved by manually changing the permissions of the Control-M for Managed File Transfer installation files by running the below command as the root user:

    chmod -R 755 <agent home directory>/ctm/temp/DRAFT.9.0.00_Linux-x86_64.tar.Z <agent home directory>/ctm/temp/DRAFT.9.0.00_Linux-x86_64.tar.Z_root <agent home directory>/ctm/silent.xml

After the permissions have been changed using the above command, retry the deployment using the Control-M Configuration Manager Agent Deployment screen.
