    COMPONENT:

    AR System Server

    APPLIES TO:

    Applied to ARS 8.1.x

    QUESTION:

Can ARS 8.1.x be configured to run against a read-only database for reporting purposes?

    ANSWER:

While this is not officially supported the configuration can be made to work.

The following parameters can be defined in the ar.cfg/ar.conf to disable the operations needed to make this work.

    Full-Text-Dsiable-Searching:  T
    Full-Text-Disable-Indexing: T
    Disable-Archive: T
    Disable-Escalations: T

If you enable remedy logging you will see ORA-16000 errors reported in the SQL logging. They can be ignored and server should be accessible.

The following parameter will enable api/sql logging.

    Debug-mode:  17

    By default the log files will be in the db directory with the following names;

    arapi.log
    arsql.log

You can also define the following parameters to have the logging going to the same log file.  Below is an example.  Modify the path to the db directory.

    SQL-Log-File: /data1/remedy/ARSystem/db/api-sql.log
    API-Log-File: /data1/remedy/ARSystem/db/api-sql.log
