Install PATROL Agent on Linux 7 systemd

    QUESTION:

    Steps to install PATROL Agent on Linux, CentOS as newer Operating Systems like RedHat 7 and CentOS 7 leverage systemd


    ANSWER:

    1) Copy the attached files into place:  (PatrolAgent BASE install path: /opt/bmc)
     
    /opt/bmc/PatrolAgent-Start.sh
    /opt/bmc/AgentList.txt
    /etc/systemd/system/PatrolAgent.service
     
    2) Run the following commands (as root or sudo user):
     
    systemctl daemon-reload
    systemctl start PatrolAgent.service
    systemctl stop PatrolAgent.service
    systemctl status PatrolAgent.service
     
    (These commands should Start and Stop the Patrol Agent)
     
    3) Activate the service (as root or sudo user):
      systemctl enable  PatrolAgent.service

    Please note that the PatrolAgent.service script is written assuming PATROL Agent base installation directory as /opt/bmc and PATROL Agent detault user as ‘patrol’. Please make sure to modify the below lines according to your environment.

    User=patrol
    ExecStart=/opt/bmc/PatrolAgent-Start.sh
    ExecStop=/opt/bmc/Patrol3/scripts.d/S50PatrolAgent.sh stop
     
    Similar changes need to be made for line numbers 5, 12 and 19 for  PatrolAgent-Start.sh in accordance to your environment.
