    PRODUCT:

    BladeLogic Server Automation Suite

    COMPONENT:

    BladeLogic Patch Management

    APPLIES TO:

RedHat Patch catalog update in BSA version 8.6 and later

    PROBLEM:

A BMC BladeLogic Server Automation (BSA) RHEL Patch catalog update job is failing and the following error is seen in the Job Run logs :

Error 12/19/2016 06:06:24 Validation Error :- BLPAT1101 - Yum Util Packages required to proceed are not installed Possible remediation steps :- Please check yum installation on repository server  Please check reposync installation on repository server  Please check subscription-manager installation on repository server

    CAUSE:

The repository server may be RHEL5 which is not a supported platform for the same or the required utilities are not installed on the repository server.

    SOLUTION:

The error indicates that the reposync and subscription-manager packages are not installed on the server designated as the repository server in BSA.  This may be because the repository server is RHEL5, which is an unsupported platform to serve as a repository server or the noted packages are not actually installed.  If the system is indeed RHEL5, then choose a RHEL6 or RHEL7 system to serve as the repository server.  Otherwise, ensure subscription-manager and reposync are installed.
