    APPLIES TO:

MainView for DB2, Apptune for DB2

    PROBLEM:

Errors when the DOMPLEX definition has a space allocation larger than 4096 MB

IGD17103I CATALOG ERROR WHILE DEFINING VSAM DATA SET  dataset name
    . . .
IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 140 - REASON CODE IS
     IDC3009I IGG0CLEV-110

    CAUSE:

    IBM Restriction

    SOLUTION:

The DOMPLEX definition for NGL output datasets "Space to allocate (per LDS)." may be defined from 1-9999MB
However, IBM has a restriction that VSAM datasets cannot be larger than 4096 MB unless they are SMS-managed and defined as extended format.
The limit is documented by IBM in message IDC3009I.
If the dataset is not defined for extended addressability, the errors below will be displayed in the DBC started task and the files will not be allocated.

    Example of error messages:
IGD17103I CATALOG ERROR WHILE DEFINING VSAM DATA SET  datset name
RETURN CODE IS 140 REASON CODE IS 110 IGG0CLEV
IGD306I UNEXPECTED ERROR DURING IGG0CLEV PROCESSING
RETURN CODE 140 REASON CODE 110

    0IDC3014I CATALOG ERROR
IDC3009I ** VSAM CATALOG RETURN CODE IS 140 - REASON CODE IS
     IDC3009I IGG0CLEV-110
0IDC3003I FUNCTION TERMINATED. CONDITION CODE IS 12

To resolve this error, one of the following should be done:
    1.  Change the DOMPLEX to allow for extended format dataset allocation using SMS values that allow for extended format in the following parms of the DOMPLEX:  "LDS DFSMS Data class", "LDS DFSMS Management class", "LDS DFSMS Storage class",
    2.  Change the DFSMS default values so that the default value allows for extended format
    3.  Reduce the size of the dataset allocation to 4096 MB or less.
