    Tomcat using Apache Portable Runtime

    QUESTION:

Can I use  APR (Apache portable runtime) in Tomcat 8.5

    ANSWER:

    1.   Get the tcnative-1.dll library.

The Tomcat windows service installer does not provide the tcnative-1.dll library
If you use the installer, you will also need to:

    • Download tomcat standalone 64 bit and decompress it to a temporary directory (ex:  /tmp
    •
    • From the temporary directory, copy tomcat/bin/tcnative-1.dll into the installed tomcat bin directory
    2.   If your domain starts with . (period) and the new Cookie processor on tomcat does not allow this type of domain for cookies, make the following update:

In the tomcat/conf/context.xml, enter the org.apache.tomcat.util.http.LegacyCookieProcessor  for the CookieProcessor class name

      example of context.xml

APR is enabled by default as long as you have that library on windows
