    Control-M/Agent for UNIX and Microsoft Windows

    APPLIES TO:

    Control-M Agent 9 Fix Pack 2

    PROBLEM:

    After installing Control-M Agent 9 Fix Pack 2 the rc.agent_user startup script is failing with the following error:

     CONTROLM environment variable is not defined .

    This error is displayed in the system "/var/log/boot.log" file.

    CAUSE:

    CAR00084334 - When agent was installed as root, rc.agent will fail to start Agent if roots home directory is "/" on UNIX

    SOLUTION:

    Installation of Control-M Agent 9 Fix Pack updates the rc.agent_user startup script with the user name that performed the installation, rather than the Agent owner username.

    To resolve this issue, update the rc.agent_user script with the Agent owner name, as it was originally and rebuild the symbolic link. For example:

    1. Update the script:
        account_name="{Agent User Name}"

    2. Rebuild the Symbolic link:
        ln -s /etc/rc.d/<agentUser> /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S98<agentUser>
