    PRODUCT:

    TrueSight Presentation Server

    COMPONENT:

    TSPS Server

    APPLIES TO:

    TSPS 10.7, 11.x ,11.3.x on Windows

    PROBLEM:

TrueSight Presentation Server (TSPS) Core Server (csr) process is failing to start or randomly crashing. The CMA.log shows:

ERROR 06/29 19:10:39.040 [ThresholdAndSSAConfigRequest_1] CMA BMC_TS-CMA854038 Exception occurred while initializing PATROL encryption utility
    com.bmc.ess.essjni.EssException: Security policy is either missing or unreadable: SOFTWARE\BMC Software\Patrol\SecurityPolicy_v3.0\centralAdmin\common SOFTWARE\BMC Software\Patrol\SecurityPolicy_v3.0\centralAdmin\encryptor

    CAUSE:

Defect DRTSV-154. Registry keys missing under HKLM\SOFTWARE\BMC Software\Patrol\SecurityPolicy_v3.0 This could happen when you try to install Infrastructure Management and/or PATROL Agent on the computer where Presentation Server is already installed

    SOLUTION:

Go to TSPS_INSTALLATION_DIRECTORY\truesightpserver\modules\cma\pproxy\PNS\security and double click pns.reg to import that into the registry. Restart TSPS with 'tssh server start'.

This issue has been addressed in version 11.3.03 whereby if the registry key is found missing then it is automatically created again.
