You use a BlackBerry or iPhone for everything - and probably have for years. What you may not realize is, increasingly, so do your peers across the org. chart. New data from comScore suggests enterprise smartphone use has soared in the past year. Why? It's the apps. More than three billion have been downloaded in the past year and the rate of new app development is only increasing.
Here's a snapshot of the latest market data on smartphone usage in North America by platform. It compares December 2008 and 2009. For starters, smartphone shipments doubled (!) over that period to more than 76 million units. RIM maintained a sizable lead, Apple cut its deficit, Android made the greatest gains, and Palm did a swan dive despite the launch of webOS.
