Day 1: Recap

The first day of discussions comprised of attendees displaying excitement for the conference, as well as anticipation for product announcements and unveiled embargos. Mentions peaked at 9AM Monday morning with 3,657 posts generated during the first presentation on virtualization and securing data migration at lower costs. The most influential people on Twitter discussed VMWare’s 8th major release of vSphere 5.1.

The first day of VMworld 2012 was a busy one. With attendance estimated at 20,000 in-person guests, as well as an additional 10,000 watching online, some of today's biggest names debuted new cloud offerings. Of those offerings, cloud storage, data stacks and virtualization software were among the most popular on Twitter.

Attendees displayed an immense excitement for conference offerings, with the hand-on lab being a huge draw this year, as well as a few of the more unique booth offerings. One vendor, Xsigo, went beyond the normal iPad giveaway and utilized unicycles to engage attendees in their booth activity. Hope they wore their helmets!

At the BMC booth, we saw an immense amount of interest in our new Cloud Lifecycle Management (CLM) solution, with many booth visitors expressing specific interest in how CLM can help them to migrate their current applications and services from traditional data center environments to a cloud delivery model. In addition, our applications team was hard at work today helping visitors that were interested in our diverse array of application performance management products. Outside of the booth, Steve Anderson, a senior manager on our technical vm world 8.jpgmarketing department and an integral part of our product team, had the opportunity to speak today in the Solutions Exchange Theater regarding the way in which BMC Cloud Lifecycle Management integrates with VMware vCloud Director to manage the full lifecycle of services in highly dynamic cloud environments. AND, Steve will be at our booth for the duration of VMworld chatting up cloud, so be sure to stop by and say hello!

If you were too busy with all of your VMWorld activities, or if you’re watching online, we will post more our favorite photos. Stay tuned....
