You are probably wondering….what happens to my AppVis data? Where does it go?  Does it get backed up?  How can I recover if I have a system failure?

 

These are all really good questions.

 

All of your data from the TEA Agents, .Net Agents and Java Agents are stored on the App Visibility Portal / Collector.  These components are not backed up automatically. You must do this manually and on a regular basis.  This is the only way that you will be able to restore the data if something happens to these components.

 

It is also important to note that you should backup the App Visibility Portal / Collector if you are doing an upgrade to the Truesight Presentation Server (TSPS).  It does not matter that you are not "touching" the Portal/Collector. The Portal/Collector databases are dependent on the Truesight Presentation Server and if something happens to that component during an upgrade, it will affect your data on the Portal/Collector.

 

If your Portal and Collector are on different systems, then you will need to make sure that both databases are backed up simultaneously. Otherwise, the data will become out of sync.
