Presentation Q&A

Q: What are the different values available for Algorithm apart from Subquery?

A: Combined LIKE’s is the original implementation and  RLS_Split was added in a later 8.1 service pack.  Subquery was introduced in 1902.

Q: Can Subquery algorithm be used for CMDB forms as well?

A: Yes, CMDB forms may also use this algorithm but it is recommended not to create overlays for CMDB forms.  Make the change in base mode for CMDB forms and it will remain intact during CMDB upgrade

Q: In the example for Join forms it was suggested to enable the S table on BaseElement form, but BMC best practices suggest to not overlay the Core CMDB forms. What's the suggested approach for enabling this for CMDB join forms in this case?

A: Enable the subquery algorithm in base mode for CMDB forms as overlays are not recommended. This change will remain intact during upgrades.
