Q: Is Control-M for SAP 9 able to run with a 32bit Control-M/Agent?

A: Control-M for SAP version 9 only supports running on a 64 bit Agent.

Q: Where is the SAP job spool and log saved when run thru Control-M?

A: SAP job log and spool is saved in the Control-M job output by default.

Q: Can we send a notification specifically about a child job that failed?

A: Using the job template you can define a notification in the Actions tab of the Child job.

Q: Do the files in the jobtrace directory appear even if debug is not enabled on the Agent?

A: Debug is not required to get the jobtrace files and a unique file is created for every SAP job.

Q: When do the jobtrace files get removed?

A: These files get removed at New Day.

Q: Are the jobtrace logs available in version 8?

A: They were first introduced in version 9.

Q: What is the most practical application for reading the jobtrace logs?

A: When an SAP job ends NOTOK, reading the associated jobtrace log will give you more details about the failure and if the problem is likely to be in Control-M or SAP.

For example a timeout error message in the job output can be an indication of an issue in SAP.

Q: Is the Extractor process needed with the new job types?

A: The new job types do not require the Extractor.

Q: You can keep parent job executing state until childs are completed still for BW proc chains?

A: Yes, the new feature included in version 9, allow you to keep the parent job to wait for the child jobs-

Q: Can we install Control-m SAP 9.0 with COntrol-m sever 8.0 ?

A: Yes this is possible, please refer to the Release notes of Control-M for SAP version 9 for further details.

Q: For log and spool file saved on Linux Agent, who is file owner and what is file permission?

A: The owner is the agent user, and the permission is 644 (rw-r--r--)

Q: From parent job property we can see the child jobs. Is there any way to find the parent jobname from the child job?

A: You can view all the child on the parent job, but not the other way around.

Q: Are there any plans to remove the requirement of creating the Child jobs within Control-M for monitoring the spawned jobs? Some of our jobs have dozens of child jobs so we will be consuming much too many licenses which makes this functionality less useful.

A: No, this is the way designed.

Q: If the event is not arrived, do we have any standard compstat code like we have one for file watcher?

A: Jobs end not ok. The compstat is identical to any CTM job.

Q: Does Control-M Agent always need to be run as root?

A: No. you can also run it as non-root.

Q: There is an option called spool list receipient in the SAP form. It includes shared Distribution List. I want to know if we can pull report to view only those DL name.

A: look for variable : "%%SAPR3-RECIP_TYPE" with value: "C", and the name of the dist list will be the value of variable: %%SAPR3-RECIPIENT.

Q: Job completion status depends on Application status.. What's that?

A: In case a job runs a SAP application, the job’s status can be set to depend on this internal status.
