Here is the Q&A for this webinar (Connect with Control-M: Self Service 9 New Interface)

________________________________________________________________

Q: We have no plans to implement MFT at this point, and we use a different tool. Can we hide the Managed File Transfer menu option at the top of the windows? Will it appear if we do not have MFT installed?

A: The Managed File Transfer section will appear within Self Service as long as that module is enabled in your environment. If it's not enabled then it won't appear  .

________________________________________________________________

Q: Are there any changes on Self Service Mobile side?

A: No, currently there are no changes on the Self Service mobile side, all changes were done on web browser side

________________________________________________________________

Q: Can this screen be customized for different columns?

A: Yes, it's possible to play with the columns to be displayed in the screen for a customized view.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Order Job or Service, is there the ability to "Order On Hold" same as is available in Thick Client?

A: Currently Self Service is designed to order the job without the Hold option, but if this can be considered as an enhancement, please open a ticket to Control-M Support so this request can be handled properly.

________________________________________________________________

Q: When you change your columns visible is it saved from session to session or must you go through the same exercise for each sign on?

A: This change is saved from session to session so it's not necessary to do the change again next time you access.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Is this new self service interface available on v8?

A: No, this new interface is just available from Control-M/EM 9 Fix Pack 3

________________________________________________________________

Q: How to restrict access for business users in Self Service?

A: Yes, it's possible to restrict access from the Authorizations itself as for any GUI user. Further information about this can be found in previous Self Service webinar in minute 10:50. This is the link for the Self Service webinar when this is explained:

Q: Any way to use workload archive and history view in one view instead of using each separately to get past job runs?

A: It's necessary to use them   separately.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Can you confirm that at this point the same mobile app will be compatible with v8 and v9 self-service?

A: Currently there are no changes on the Self Service mobile side, all changes were done on web browser side, so it has to work properly with both versions.

________________________________________________________________

Q: What controls how many days of services are maintained?

A: The system parameter NumberOfReportDaysHistory controls how long the Service history is retained. This parameter is accessed from Control-M Configuration Manager

A: Ordering services is controlled in the User Authorization and Authentication settings. These settings are found inside Control-M Configuration Manager

A: Services output is displayed from the Control-M Agent sysout directory.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Disable "Internet Enhanced Security", where exactly is this option, and what implication will it have at the browser?

A: This enhanced level of security reduces the risk of attack from Web-based content that is not secure, but it may also prevent Web sites from displaying correctly and restrict access to network resources or not perform as expected. Further information can be found in the following link:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/815141

Q: Do Waiting jobs have anticipated ETA of times the jobs will run?

A: This would be a functionality of Batch Impact Manager

________________________________________________________________

Q: I am interested to implement MFT, but I don't have the installation media available in the EPD site, from where I would I get it. Also I have like to upgrade the self service and should I need to do anything specific without disturbing the existing service

A: You may contact your Account Representative or our Customer Care Department. If you still experience issues downloading MFT from our site, please open a case with us so we may further assist you.

Q: Can History be opened on a separate tab as in the past?  Can MFT be opened on a separate tab?

A: The history information cannot be opened in a separate tab, now it's displayed in the same workspace than the current data. MFT is opened on a separate tab.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Also, is there any special setting to do to show MFT information in Self Service?

A: You only need to activate the product on your EM and the MFT screen will be available.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Hi, are you covering the MFT aspect of CTM?

A: On this presentation we have only covered how MFT is integrated with the new Self Service interface, we have plans for a webinar dedicated to MFT.

________________________________________________________________

Q: does BIM need to be active for this to work, or can it work without BIM installed and active?

A: In order to use the new Self Service interface you only need to install fix pack 3 on your Control-M/Enterprise Manager 9.0. There's no need to activate BIM.

________________________________________________________________

Q: Are we need to register separately for Self Service ?

A: Self Service is delivered with the Control-M/Enterprise Manager but it has a separate license, you need to run the activation script to start using it.

________________________________________________________________

Q: When connecting, it’s asking URL, User and password. Which URL we need to provide?

A: On the Configuration Manager do a right click over the Web Server component and select "Web Server URLs", this option will show you the URL that you have to use on your environment.

________________________________________________________________

Q: The flow diagram built for Self Service is much better than that on EMWA. It shows the flow going from top to bottom, rather than jumping up and down as in EMWA. Will the algorithm to build the flow for SLS be available to EMWA?

A: We are not aware of any difference between the algorithm used in the Control-M Workload Automation client and the one used on the new Self Service interface. If you see any difference please submit a support case to check it.

________________________________________________________________

Q: How to restrict access for business users in Self Service?

A: With the Control-M authorizations you are able to restrict the services available for a specific user or group. Using the authorizations you can also control if the users are able to see the jobs within the service or not. The services tab in the authorizations control the privileges at service level, the active tab controls the privileges at job level.

________________________________________________________________

Q: can we see jobs other than BIM service jobs in Self Service?

A: To see the jobs on Self Service they must be contained in a service, it doesn’t matter if it’s a BIM or Self Service service. If the job is not a part of a service you will not be able to see it in Self Service.
