Over the last few months, Automation Academy has published many topics that explain basic introductory level tasks in BladeLogic.

Recently, we published our first advanced topic on

Walkthrough: Identifying potential patching and deployment problems describes a process that can identify servers with access and writeability issues--before those problems are exposed during critical patching, scripting, or deployment operations. We call this process a patching dry run. Some users call it synthetic patching.

Thanks to Sean Berry in Customer Engineering, who provided the source material for this walkthrough. He learned about the process from some savvy customers who routinely perform patching dry runs to help prevent nasty surprises during maintenance windows.
