With apologies to Robert Heinlein...

A sysadmin should be able to: build a new server, import servers, decommission a server, change passwords, audit for compliance, log exceptions, change policies, remediate discrepancies, apply patches, reboot servers, package software, deploy a package, document software coverage, identify the inappropriate, find a bad actor, remediate unauthorized change, speak to value, report on key performance indicators, explain his/her worth, read documentation, document his/her work, adopt new technology, understand history, and work at breathtaking scale.
