It's my first day after my holidays
... and I'm getting lost using BMCDN... what's happening?
I was used to enter into BMCDN and review all the recent content... but this section appears empty!
- where are the last/next/show all recent content (or activity) buttons gone?
- now it seems that one needs to enter in a community to see something, why?
Hi,
Maybe we could start a poll to "rollback" to older BMCDN version.
It's a nightmare searching anything in this new version...
With just a clic on a disappeared "Show more" (or something similar) button one could see all the recent activity, regardless what community the post belonged to... now you've to investigate through communities...
Any oppinion would be appreciated.
Kind Regards,
Björn.
Just another thing,
More information, BMCDN FAQs, BMCDN Feedback,... links doesn't work.
Getting this kind of error for each link:
type Status report
message /community/bmcdn_general/bmcdn_faqs
description The requested resource (/community/bmcdn_general/bmcdn_faqs) is not available.
Best Regards,
Björn.
Hi All,
Any other thought about the new BMCDN behaviours?
In order to see the posts related to different communities one has to go back, go forward,... through the different communities.
Just a month ago, with one click one could see all communities different posts (Recent activity) and, in my modest opinion, this system was more proactive, more dynamic than the actual one.
The actual system, doesn't help very much to follow up what's happening in a "real time" fashion (maybe that answers the question about the link to Twitter?)... and most posts "die" without having the chance to answer them because it's impossible to switch all the time to follow up what's new in a specific community.
Maybe I'm missing something, maybe one can follow up the communities he wants, I don't know this because I'm still unable to access BMCDN FAQs and BMCDN Feedback links. They still doesn't work.
Any official help or explanation would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Björn.
The BMCDN is now part of the BMC Communities site. The look is somewhat different with new graphics and a fixed width. But all of the BMCDN content is still here, just moved down a level. I understand that this causes some problems, especially with links to communities. But overall, this is a great move, because it means that BMC has standardized on the Clearspace architecture pioneered by the BMCDN.
You can see the recent items on the BMCDN homepage: BMC Developer Networkin the Recent Content widget. Also, you can see all new messages at the bottom of the page with the Browse -> Discussions menu item: http://communities.bmc.com/communities/main-threads.jspa
You can see all of your posts with the Your Stuff -> Discussions menu item: http://communities.bmc.com/communities/people/Bjorn?view=discussions
The feedback forum is now here: Feedback The help/FAQ area is here: Help
Both of these are buttons on the home page (bottom right).
You can follow any commmunites, threads, users, etc. that you want, either with email or RSS. On most screens except the overview tabs of the community pages, you will see an Actions widget. On there will be a Notifications section where you can setup email notifications and see the RSS feeds available. You can see your current list of notifications under Your Stuff -> Profile -> Email Notifications: http://communities.bmc.com/communities/people/Bjorn?view=watches
Another helpful page is the communities list, available in the Browse -> Communities menu item: http://communities.bmc.com/communities/community
This lets you see the entire hierarchy of the site for easy navigation.
Hi,
Thanks for your explanations!
The look and feel is great! I was just missing this behaviour: all new messages at the bottom of the page with the Browse -> Discussions menu item: http://communities.bmc.com/communities/main-threads.jspa.
Now I'm able again to see all new messages (independently of which community they belong) without having to move for and back all the time...
Kind Regards,
Björn.
