Strange syntax in BMC policy rules

In file kb\rules\im_internal.mrl (which is provided as part of BEM/SIM installation and cointains all policy rules), in the "im_internal_notification" execute policy, starting at line 619 (SIM V7.3., last modification from 24-Jun-2008), this code can be found:

    $TARGET_PARM = concat(["NOTIFY_TARGETS=","[",$EM_KB_WORK_AREA.targets,"]"]);
    $MSG_PARM    = concat(["NOTIFY_MSG=",$MSG]);
    send_to($SERV.service, $EV, [TARGET_PARM, MSG_PARM]);

}

The line containing the "send_to" primitive looks wrong. Seems there are the leading dollar signs missing for the TARGET_PARM and MSG_PARM variabels, so I think the line should look like:

send_to($SERV.service, $EV, [$TARGET_PARM, $MSG_PARM]);

shouldn't it?

Could someone confirm this?

Restaring the service using BEM

Hello All,

Am using Portal and BEM for infrastructure monitoring.

Problem is with the RSMs. Some times RSMs utilizes more memory and stops collecting the data from managed nodes.

If i restart the RSM services when it uses more memory. Again it will start collecting data with out any issue.

My idea is to automate this restarting the RSM service using BEM, by adding script.

Any suggestions on this...? will this work..? Any body tried this.. any scripts available with the rule written on BEM?

difference between rules and policy

i am working on rules from quite a long but still unable to find out any major difference between BEM rules ( .mrl ) and policies that we create apart from policies being more user friendly.

can you please let me know as how can we really differentiate between these 2??

Backend flow of Data from BEM to Remedy Incident Management Using IBRSD

Hi All,

In my Environment, BMC even manager(BEM) is integrated with Remedy using IBRSD.

Can someone tell me which is the first place where the date is Pushed from BEM into Remedy to create an Incident?

Is that INT:Staging(I beleive the records are not stored in this form) or HPD:IncidentInterfaceCreate form or how the data moves into the HelpDesk form?

My requirement is,

Once the data come from BEM into Remedy, I have to look up for the status of the CI in CMDB which caused this event to occur and depending on the Status, if it is In Repair, I have to check whether we have any CR already in place for the CI.

Kindly help me to get this fixed.

Current customers who have integrated Nagios directly with BEM, PNET or both

Hi team,

I met with a representitive from EA and they are interested in our BEM, PNET (NGP2) to be their MOM solution. They have Nagios throughout and are feeding it today into NetCool. They want to know if they can instead feed our MOM solution directly and bypass NetCool. I explained that this was indeed possible and their next logical question was...who is doing today.

I am looking for a list of customers who do this today with our solutions. They do not have to be "referenceable" but that would be a plus.

Is Atrium Core a must prerequisite for IIWS to work properly

Hi All,

I see in the manual for IIWS installation prerequisite must have Atrium Core 7.5 (TIBCO stack) installed.

I'm using BEM 7.3.01 (for Event Mgmt only), so the requirement is BPM Portal 2.7.x will send to alert via IIWS to BEM 7.3.01.

So, will it be a must having Atrium Core for IIWS to work properly?

In SIM version 7.3.00, there are additional .wic files in a kb's <lib> directory. These files were not present in 7.1.00.

When compiling a 7.3. kb, mccomp writes out

BMC-IMC120051I: Verifying file lib/sim_decl.wic

This line is also written for files lib/sim_base.wic, lib/sim_validation.wic and lib/sim.wic. But there aren't source (.mrl) versions of these files.

In the docs, these files aren't mentioned anywhere. So does someone know what their purpose is?

The reason I ask: when installing a NEW 7.3 cell, these files are present. When UPGRADING from 7.1, the files aren't present after the upgrade (and the above mccomp messages aren't shown). So do I need these files? What's their contents?

Is there a tool to examine .wic files?

Carriage return in Notes (IX)

Hi everyone,

I want to display additionnal informations into the Notes tab of an event.

The annotation of an PATROL_EV to be more specific.

But in IX, the display removes all the Carriage return of the text.

The mc_notes is correct (ie contains all the CR).

Is there an option or a way to display the Carriage Return in a Notes into IX ?
