I lost a hundred posts !!!!

I seem to have lost a hundred posts off my post count , how can this be and how do I get them back please .........

+ Why is my joining date the migration date to this site rather than my devcon registration date of 2001 ? I notice that others who joined in 2001 do currently have the correct join date ?

BMCDN - What's happening?

Hi,

It's my first day after my holidays ... and I'm getting lost using BMCDN... what's happening?

I was used to enter into BMCDN and review all the recent content... but this section appears empty!

- where are the last/next/show all recent content (or activity) buttons gone?

- now it seems that one needs to enter in a community to see something, why?

I find BMCDN very difficult to navigate right now and also, I've a strange sensation that maybe there are posts that have been lost.

For example, where is the "Help" community now?

I've posted there at least two questions that now i'm unable to find...

And also, an old question... how can I know all the posts I've participated? Not only the discussions I've created, but also the discussions that I've answered.

This is the way I'm using to do this:

1. Enter a search criteria

It seems a must to enter something here between double quotes:

a) "Björn" doesn't works

b) I've to enter this.... "Kind Regards || "Best Regards" || "Hope"

2. Select All Communities

3. Enter Bjo... and select Bjorn

But I'm only getting 154 posts... where are the rest?

Normally, I end all my posts with strings like the one I mentioned before, buy I think it's not a good way to to this.

Maybe someone can help me with this doubts.

Hello,

It seems like a lot of "BMC Impact Manager Discussions" topics are lost. For example a search for "smcomp" returned only one record. In older version of BMCDN there was more records.

Also I don't see my old topics in "Your Stuff".

Is it possible to do a search in category and all sub-categories as default search option? I'm asking because "Event and Impact Management" messages are splitted into 3 different categrories ( Event Management, Impact Management and Integrations) and seraching is not "user friendly".

I just joined the BMC community and as part of the registration process I was asked to provide my company name. I would like to know how to hide my company name within my profile. I see how to hide my e-mail address, but I'd also like to block my company name. Any help would be appreciated.

Last Post column (forum thread overview) does not show up entirely with new web site layout.

In general, the new layout's width seems to be smaller than before, causing the bmcdn overview to be less clearly arranged (thread title on multiple lines).

Or at least if we can mark discussions as "email me if updated" ... would be nice to not have tokeep checking to see if there's something new in a topic in which we're interested.

i realised that all the code areas in the pages have the same problem:

there r many unwanted tags in the codes , seems like html tages...

i dont know whether its caused by my browser or its the page problem?

Hi,

I just tried the above and it was not a great experience. After selecting the email option you then get a new panel with an email address box and options of 'add' (greyed out initially) or 'pick'. I chose pick which brings up an 'address' panel but I could not find the users I wanted to send to, e.g. Mueller (what criteria does search use)? So I found myself (dschofie) but it still would not add me to the send list. So I closed that panel and typed 'dschofie' into the main address list. That then worked and I received the expected email with thread as a PDF attachment (neat) which I then forwarded to the people I really wanted to send it to!

What am I doing wrong?

Please merge Event Management and Impact Management communities

Event and Impact Management is divided into Event Management and Impact Management communities. I think that Event Management and Impact Management communities should be merged.
Pros:
1.    Under the hood BEM (event management) and SIM (impact management) is the same technology.
2.    It is possible to create service model (impact management) in BEM (event management) cell and now there is no clear difference from technical point of view.
3.    All old discussions (event management discussions and impact management discussions) are in new Impact Management community.
4.    Users will not be confused where to post/search a message

There was a posting immediately after mine that seems to be an out of office reply (I don't speak Italian and it looks like Italian so I am guessing that is what it is from the structure).

This happened for each thread I put a posting on.

My guess is that there is a watch that has been placed on the thread and the user is getting an email about new postings. They are out and their auto reply is happening and that is then being posted to the thread.

This obviously will clutter the thread with useless postings.

Now, maybe this is not what is happening but something is.

Watches are turned on now! Sorry for the delay, but it took us longer to combine the forums and resource center than we expected. Your previous forum watches should remain, but please check to make sure, since so many things were moved. You can see them in the header menu Your Stuff->Email Notifications.

There are at least two ways to start a discussion. If you a viewing a forum and use the Actions widget to select Start a Discussion, it assumes the current forum for your post. If you use the New->Discussion header menu item, it shows you the current forum name but has a Change link that allows you to pick another community.

We (non-bmc) were supposed to be able to contribute content to the site as well. I finally found this feature, if you go into Resource Center there is a link on the right side: "Make a Document Recommendation". This title is not straight-forward, maybe you could change it into something more obvious as "Submit New Content" or so.

A "Document Recommendation" to me sounds like you recommend an existing document, like the 'Document Rating' feature which is also available.

Another (minor) issue: even when I'm logged in I see a link " Join BMCDN" in the top-right corner. I guess this should only be available when I'm not logged in?

I am new to BMCDN (moving over from out virtual team email lists). Is there any way to 'subscribe' to commuities, similar to a creating a favorites list, and then see these favorites under "Your Stuff"? I realize I can add bookmarks and have RSS feeds, but having a favorites capability inside BMCDN would be useful as I am not always on my own laptop when accessing the Internet.

When I log in, I'd really like to be able to quickly access the communities I use regularly and see any new posts across those communities. For example, when I click "Your Stuff" and in that drop down list I'd like to see "My Communities" which I click and then I would see a page that shows a list of communities to which I have subscribed in a header type area and then underneath that any new posts (in all communities I have added to my favorites) since I last logged in that can be sorted by community, date, poster/submitter, etc.

Any help on getting to this feature if it already exists will be appreciated!

Registering Process ideas

I just registered today, forgot to fill some required fields, and acutally had a hard time to find them on the page (quite high page, there is a scroll bar -- and also I'm colorblind ;-).

I noticed that in the documents of the 'BMC Remedy AR System' community the diacritical characters are displayed as HTML entities and the images are not displayed.

Example: Not authorized to view the specified document 1356

Are there any technical documents that state whether or not BMC products are in compliance with industry standards for technologies such as but not limited to the following: HTML, HTTP, SAML, SOAP, MIME, SNMP, TCP/IP, FTP, Web Services and WSDL? Does BMC follow guidelines outlined by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), Oasis and W3C? I was able to find information that says BMC uses the specific technologies, however, I can not find any documentation that shows BMC is in compliance with various protocols.

Forum catagories - are they good?

Just getting setup for forums, and I'm a bit skeptical of the catagories we have now. I for one am interested in how we deploy BSM solutions across the entire product stack and all platforms. What are best practices for performance and stability, that kind of thing. Does this mean I need to sign up for every apps' forum? What is the equivilant to the remedy virtual team list we had?

I would suggest we build some catagories that go across products, specifically 'Performance" and maybe "Deployment Best Practices". Otherwise our comments get too silo'd under a specific product name and will get lost...

it lists the sub-forums at the top, and the "Current messages" at the bottom, with links for pages 1 2 3 4 and a Next link.

Clicking the Next link takes you to just a listing of the sub-forums.

So, this link does not work, or there are no "next messages" however regardless, the funcitonality is kaput.

It is not possible for me to filter "out of office". It ist also not possible to disable temporarly all watchings. All I can do is to delete all watchings and add them if I'm back.

There are a few features I find useful in other forums that don't appear to be part of this forum software:

* A list of all new posts since I last logged in -- this can be a good way to catch up on postings without checking each section.

* The ability to list all posts without replies (or perhaps in this case all "question" posts without answers).

* A more fully featured markup system like BBCode. In particular I'd like to see a way to do proper bullet points.

I don't know how much control you guys have over the forum code, but I thought I'd throw the suggestions at you anyway

Editing user profile

If I edit my User Profile it seems to forget what my Country setting is. I go to 'Control Panel' and it shows my country as 'United Kingdom'. If I click on the Edit button both 'Company Country:' and 'Country:' fields both reset themselves to 'Please Select'.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I cannot seem to edit posts. This is essential when posting code, as any errors can and will cause pain for future users.

Secondly, we could do with a BB tag, to remove formatting and to identify code from the rest of a post.

I see the thread about the CMDB version and we too have that question alot. Maybe this site could host the DSL for the BSM product suites? Current versions, drop dates, etc?

It would make understanding what's out there so much easier. Also, if there was a way to associate threads to the products it might make searching for product specific products easier.

I have just found those wonderful AR System Tips & Tricks from the the old Developer Community. I didn't think they would be under 'Training' - this is not very intuitive! It's bad enough having to dig down all the time to get to AR System within the BMCDN (why does it have to be under BMC Foundation and not have its own top level entry?) without having to think which area.

Thanks for uploading them, they were and are a great resource that I hope will be added to rather than just appear as an archive.

General comment on forum structure

The devcon form that has most of the content here is tucked away at the bottom and does not have its sub-forums exposed like the others at the forum root, are there any plans to re-format this forum branch as per the rest ? It also contains many forums for Impact solutions etc .... which overlap greatly with the ones at the root of the forums , which ones should be used ?

I think that this site will be very useful for the Remedy user community as well as users of other BMC products. It won't take the place of other sites such as ARSList, but it will add to the mix. I have no problem going to multiple sites to find information when necessary. Hopefully, since it will developed and supported by BMC, it should be the first place to go as long as you don't let it go dormant like the original Developer Community site. I agree with the other threads about making Remedy more prominent and accessible.

Why is AR System buried?

Why does AR System have to be listed under BMC Foundation? Foundation is all about the BMC Foundation Discovery product and surely AR System is not a sub-set of that product?

Why can't AR System have its own top level entry?

The links at the top-right (Recognition, Guidlelines and Help don't do anything. Are these links we are supposed to see?

Bad link for arlabel documentation

If you go to the document area and under that to the readme files and to the specific item of arlabel, you will find that the link to the documentation for that utility points to the artext documentation not the arlabel documentation. Just need to fix the link to point to the correct document.

Hi,

The edit functionality of our own posts seems to be gone...

This functionality was useful for editing our own posts for some reasons (spell, etc...)

Is it planed to see this functionality to be back here again?
